If only you knew the damage that's been done, If only you knew the pain you've caused, My soul and heart raped many times, They've been boiled, tarred and feathered. Broken promises, broken dreams, Many things in my life no chance to fulfill, I have talent, needs and longings, Sometimes I stare at the bottle of sleeping pills. I could never do anything mind, For that is the gutless way, I battle on intermittently, forever a day, No words of understanding or comfort you say. I could've been so many things, I gave them up for you, Now my life knows limitations, What's left for me to do? I wanted to sing God dammit, On the stage, a place I love, The only place where I truly felt my power and confidence, Sent from the Lord above. Photography how I've wanted to explore it more, But that was too expensive, End of discussion, Can't afford it, forget it, no more. Improvements around the house and yard, Always cost too much, But the world I'm enclosed in, Should be a gift to the eyes and the touch. My computer a gift, The gift that saved me, Allowing me to stretch and preen my wings, Already I've grown and changed so much, I'm now a better me. I need change and challenge, If only I had it more, Then living this meagre existance, Wouldn't be such a bore. If only I could venture overseas, And see so many read of things, Boatways in Venice, The Pyramids of the Nile, Exploration - happiness it brings. Africa, America, Canada, Antartica, And many more places too, Some times I think they are merely fantasies, Stories for me and you. That is why I need to see them, Smell, taste and feel them too, My mind and brain forever questioning, That is natural to do. I need to experience much in this life, Not just stagnate and wither, My soul needs to fly and celebrate, Not deflate, cry out and shiver. ------------------ Through poetry my heart and soul truly sing... ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

I can relate to this very well, Isis. If I could spend my life travelling, I would. I need to experience life...not wander though it like a lemming of society. Good job. Michael |
