This game you play
can only bring dismay
and break the branches
of friendship we have grown.
The twists and the turns
in our tree of friendship
will be cut away
leaving only an empty trunk
to rot in the ground.

~Oh how terribly sad this is.  To see or hear of a friendship ending.  You have written well, the metaphor fits perfectly.  It's sad yet there is beauty in your words.
