the facade I wear like a shield protecting and sheltering me from life's ravaging storms is cracking and shattering all around me til I stand exposed in all my soiled glory til I stand humbled, head hung before the world unable to draw a breath much longer as the pain overwhelms me my eyes long to close in forever's bliss no sorrow or trouble just darkness for all eternity rest utter silence peace from the demons the cruel creatures in my mind and soul that scream my name that flail me with my shortcomings proclaiming my unworthiness laughing at my tear worn face the scars on my soul proof as I pray that heaven will accept my brokeness longing to speak, to scream, to beg someone to take this from me so afraid so needful so tired so close the end in sight as my tears fall freely the mirror taunts my pain I wonder at my sanity believing even that has left me so weak so powerless to fight anymore so in need of rest unable to take another step or say another word to show my pain these, my last etchings will leave but a dim memory of who I was and what my life held as I lay my head to sleep, my dreams with the angels |
