The heart sees light,
in the darkest dawn,
and sees land,
in the deepest sea.

It makes fantasy,
out of sorrow,
and sees reality,
as a twisted fate.

The mind torments the heart,
finding fault in beauty,
and finding madness,
in joyful things.

The mind conquers,
and relishes the victory,
as the heart strains,
for unattainable triumph.

The mind's treachery,
shadows love's hope,
causing the heart,
to die in lasting gloom.
