He laid a kiss
Upon her brow
He placed a rose
In her hand
Once again he tells her
He loves her forever
He will always love her
Until the end of time
He looks in her hand
At the single white rose
A symbol of his undying love
Unlike that rose
It will never wilt and fade
He looks at her sweet lips
Which he will never kiss again
He watches the lid close
On his loves resting bed
He says his last goodbye
A single tear falls from his eye
Now his beloved will rest forever

Eloquent and tender. I liked image of love everlasting which you have conveyed. Although I am not one for self-promotion (not BLATANT self-promotion anyway) I am reminded of a poem I posted called Patiently Waiting. Let me 'resurrect' that guy and post him. I think the two would compliment each other.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

This is a good poem. it seems like a reversed sleeping beauty story. but good never the less. but you can tell even everlasting love dies out in one world only to be taken to the next.

It was sad. Love will not perish with death atleast thats sure. One will always live in the heart and minds of that person. Strikingly beautiful poem.

The final parting moment is so sad.. it is so hard to say goodbye... I admit being choked up a bit myself, I hate the final physical goodbye... But they do live in heart and memory.
