When you departed
and said you wanted to fly.
In your hand you had my heart
and I wanted to die.

I tried to fallow you
out the door.
Wanting to be your love
forever more.

Stepping outside
to watch you fly.
Rain coming down
like an internal cry.

Spreading your wings
you block out the sun.
No light to show me the way,
my heart in a dead run.

Then a horrid thing happened
and time stood still.
Each rain drop reflected
this wolf-beast’s shrill.

Forever entombed
and completely surround.
Captured this wolfs howl
without a sound.

Yes the drops seemed to expand
with a reflection of me now.
With my jaws aghast
in an eternal howl.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

This is such a raw and emotionally charged poem. It carries a lot of energy with it. The images in the last three stanzas are amazing. I, myself, have used "trapping" imagery like this and while I couldn't begin to explain it, I completely empathize; then and now.

This poem is terrifyingly claustrophobic. I love the way you use fantastic imagery to bring despersate emotions to life. Wild stuff!

Have you ever been caught in a moment of time screaming/howling when it fell upon deaf ears, or am I the only one??
Thank you gothicmoth, yes trapping energy, there is plenty I've got to hold it back, the fear of letting this go is unmanageable.
lotharingia, I thank you also
"terrifyingly claustrophobic" some have no idea. If I don't calm myself I'll run amuck.
and that's not good.
Cookies. haha. god how I love thee.
but your love life is still killing me. hahaha. have fun and you go girl. hahaha
not all bad days, just daze.

Wow. And ne'er another sound was uttered by the devastated wolf. Amazing as always. Astounding images.

~Yowsers!!! hehe.  Joel,...oh this is too good. .  Such vivid descriptions allowing me to see right into this piece.  Rain coming down like an internal cry....*sigh*...so real.

Forever entombed
and completely surround.
Captured this wolfs howl
without a sound.

Yes the drops seemed to expand
with a reflection of me now.
With my jaws aghast
in an eternal howl.

*Wow,...uuummm,...speechless.  Although there is no sound I hear you....Take care. *Peace.

Dear Joel,
I know the moment you describe stuck in an immortal moment of pain.. never ending, yet no one sees your crying or hears the howling.
Hon *hugs* and howl to the fates, I never envision you running amuck, just howl and then your soul will be still... Love ya!

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....
