Going to sleep what would you miss, if you never woke up again and passed on. What would I miss? How can I put this so you can understand, it’s not in order you see, it’s as a first come first served, The list might come in groups or completely out of context. I’d miss the laughter of my children, and the touch of a hand or a hug from them. I’d miss the smell of the forest with it’s dampness and woody scent. I’d miss the wind blowing in my face. I’d miss your hair falling down into my eyes. I’d miss the camp fires, late at night and our time spent. I’d miss a baby’s cry, and giggle and yes the smell of diapers to. I’d miss the friendships I have known. I’d miss the friendships I have never sewn and yes white dove, I’d miss you. I’d miss licking my finger with icing and cake I’d miss music, and the beat of the heart and a heart break. I’d miss the feel of a loved one’s hair, I’d miss the comfort of a good reclining chair. I’d miss reading a good story, coconut creme pies and spaghetti. I’d miss the caress of a loved ones hand. And the tears they have shed. I’d miss my dog’s bark and my cat’s call. I’d miss the animals one and all. I’d miss the feel of a good book in my hand, and the hours of silent reading of a far away land. I’ve given it my all. and more than I can recall. I’d miss my life and all that turned about. The school years the graduating tears. I worked with what I had, not ashamed on how it turned out. In this world a turnabout. I’d miss the loneliness that I sometimes had, learning more of myself than I ever could have. I’d miss lightning, and rain, fog and the smell of the sea, I’d miss a good cup of Colombian coffee. I’d miss the feel of my dog leaning against my leg. And the feel of them sleeping on my bed. I’d miss the sun on my face sweat poring down my brow. I’d miss the feel of a rabbit in my hands. And yes even the smell of a cow. God I don’t understand! “But” I’d miss his mighty plan. I’d miss the tears of joy, and sorrow. I’d miss waking up tomorrow. I’d miss the foot prints in my heart, left by my true friends one and all. I’d miss the blue sky and God’s call. I’d miss a walk in a summer rain, holding hands with the one I love. I’d miss the flight of a bird, eagles, seagulls & White Dove. I’d miss the quiet moments I’ve had with you by my side. Without you I thought I’d died. And yes within it all I’d miss you White Dove, Yes most of all. I’d miss holding you tight against my chest. and feeling your breath. I’d miss placing my head upon your breast and listing to your heart beat, within your chest. I’d miss your sensuous lips and the nectar within. I’d miss but remember your love. Always. And I know it takes time, To win. Like a proven kiss, and a promise to hold tight in a storm. Maybe gone? but not forgotten! My words will live forever. All my love Joel. ----------------------- So if you have something add yours to it. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

Joel.....well I guess all of our pondering about life and death....well it brought out the BEST in you! WOW, my fellow poet what a wonderful poem. It had the feeling of having a great experience....you know the kind....the kind that you never want to have end. Like a good movie that is long....but never seemed like it, because it was just sooooooooooo good! Like an awesome dream you never want to wake up from! And I agree with Sylvia, nothing need be added here friend.....Just divine the way it is! Thanks once again! |

~Long???,..naahh...I could have read that forever...Joel, this is so beautiful. I know you sit over there and laugh at me when I say such things but it's ok....I got to read this and take from it what I wished...and I want to thank you for that. You have more talent at expressing yourself than you'll ever give yourself credit for. This poem here has made me think of all the things I'd miss and you know what?...I may just have to write them down for my own...just to see them there on paper,...make me realize it more...make me appreciate them more while I still have them....hhmmmm,...Joel ,..you got me here. |

This was a very beautiful, warm love poem. I sometimes avoid long poems, thinking they aren't worth the effort, but this was so wonderful, I read every word, twice. White Dove must be a special person. |
