I feel beneath the white,
There is a red skin suffering,
From centuries of taming,
No more musing or complaining!

And the sea is wide, I can't swim so long,
Neither have I the wings to fly,
If I could find me a trustworthy ferryman,
To ferry me to peace where I may die.

One dream, one soul,
One prize my lifelong goal,
A shaft of light that showed me the way,
No simple man will win this day!

This rage has lasted a thousand years,
Only this time I hear life's harmonies,
But I'll sing no more right now,
Until I have this drink.

I'm drunk today, for I'm seldom sober,
I am sick now, are my days over?
This pain again unbearable,
For I've the heart of an empath and rover.

Fighting to survive,
In a world with dark and frightening powers,
Here I stand,
Fighting for my survival.

There is so much left unspoken,
Today all I can do is surrender,
Sweet surrender, and end to my pain,
Less suffering, so much to gain.

Another drink anyone?

PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT DRUNK OR ANYTHING, JUST MADE ALL THIS UP!!!! SO NO-ONE IS ALLOWED TO WORRY.
Isis

ISIS
i gotta tell ya...I was glad to see the disclaimer at the end...cause you wrote this so well..ya had me worried
*S*
the true sign of a gifted poet is when they
can put themselves in anothers shoes and write a poem...that make the reader feel like the poet is living the pain.
YOU did that in this...
excellent work ISIS
take care, jm

Is it too much to find an answer,
Is it too much to hold you close.
Is it too much to find a reason,
Is it too much to free my soul --
From self control ...
And I know you're always waiting for me ...
You take me far away,
And I know you're holding me ...
And it's better now ...

Thanks Janet Marie!!  I thought about not putting in the disclaimer to see the reaction I got LOL but I didn't want to worry anyone either.
Glad you liked it!!  I was trying to be someone else sort of..

Hey, I'll buy a round for the house eh?

This was a great poem Isis... makes me think how easy it is to fall into things like this to try to make the pain go away. . .

Sven, it is too easy you are right.  I lost a beloved uncle to alcoholism.  Such a waste.
Thanks

Dear Isis~
So glad this wasn't about you personally as alcoholism is a terrible thing.
Sad poem but well written.....

Ya this is a subject I havn't seen in the forms much, it comes to close to home for me being raised with a abusing drunk.
it's just to close to home now.
I guess this is my bigest thing, I have 0000 tolerence for drunks.
I know we turn to it at times I'm talking about the brain that floats on it all the time.

This was a very powerful piece. Any one who knows what it is to be around an alcholic can understand these words you write.
