In one day you shattered my world, it came to a sudden halt That one day I blamed myself, thought it was my fault But you were the one who did betray Stole my heart then threw it away Crushed my spirit and soul like they never did exist Still my mind is tortured of thoughts that still persist Thoughts of you and what you did, with no regards for me Crushed me like a ship being forced to shore by the sea I was crashed against giant rocks that shattered me to death Shattered and crushed until there was nothing left No sunshine, no moonlight, no twinkling bright star Nothing but a spiritless soul destined never to travel far Keep all the windows of your mind open Anne Rooks |

We do take a betrayal hard, no matter what it is, and we tend to blame ourselves right off, what did I do? Could I have prevented this? What didn't I do? Etc. No. It is not your fault. Hell kid send your ship to an island of love. Forget the bum. As for the poem. Great. your expression of events are vivid, and moving. Joel. I howl a mornful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

~Tracie...keep your head up. This probably sounds a bit silly coming from someone who doesn't know the whole story....but getting out now is probably what's best for you. It hurts like hell but in the end...you will truly shine.  |

Dear All~ I thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful replies to this poem. I wrote this many years ago when just a teen, a teen I may well have been but I was soo in love. This person betrayed my love, trust, loyalty, secrets and most of all my heart and it took me a long time to get over him and what he did. My heart breaks thinking about the words I just read, no matter how long ago it happened, it always stings to remember and it always hurts although we do our best to go on.
