I stood in the back so I could hear every one All my significant parts had gathered around. Looking in the casket seeing what was there. Looked like my heart laid bear. My mind thoughtfully said: Why are you dead? My heart said: That was better left unsaid. The child laughably said: Let’s go out and play. My heart said: I see no sun today. My eyes tearfully said: There is beauty in this world for all to see. My heart said: I’m dead can’t you let me be. My body said: Come with me a body needs a heart not a velvet bed. My heart said: I’ll not travel with the walking dead. My voice cried out: How can I say anything from you again? My heart said: What could I say? That wouldn’t be called a sin. My spirit whispered: Rise up and join the rest. My heart said: Save your sermon for someone that can’t resists. I lay here in this velvet bed, this emotional coffin a deadly rest, escaping from the world, it’s lies of love, it’s what I do best. I howl a mornful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

i really love the way you got all the body parts and they got to throw their two cents worth in...sad but very clever. i thought it was cool. |

Been there - that's for sure. "escaping the world" that's pretty much what I do best too. Hey, you asked where I live - Bakersfield, CA - about 2 hours North of L.A. Michael |

Excellent Poem Joel. It pointed out that without the heart, or once the heart dies there is nothing left. Very Sad. Daniel The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship." --Ralph Waldo Emerson |
