Do Ghosts Weep For Me? They exist in twilight time between two worlds Wandering and alone They struggle desperately trying to reach out to us to let us know “Hey, we are still here” I think of them trapped between two worlds and I wonder Do they see me in bondage? Trapped in the world of the living tied to this physical body with it’s many limitations? I sometimes envy their freedom Existing in pure spirit without limitations or vice But why do they stay? The path is there for them A new existence awaiting their explorations Perhaps they stay by choice Unwilling to leave those they left behind I mourn their physical death And yet I wonder with all my earthly failings Do they weep for me? © 3/19/00 Gary Pence Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. -Edgar Allen Poe |

Jonas this was a wonderful piece but I think that the reason they stay is not only for the loved ones they left behind...but maybe the physcial pleasures of life itself. So many things we take for granted they try to hold to..they cherish whole heartedly. I don't know if they weep for you....but I think there's something to be learned here... Thank you DE and JM! To be honest, I don't really believe in ghosts, at least not in the typical sense. However, the title popped into my mind and I liked it so I wrote the poem around it. Jonas, Great job. This one touched me. My mom died several years ago and I often wonder if she weeps for me....I know I still weep for her. Friends are friend forever if the Lord's the Lord of them and a friend will not say never cause the welcome will not end. --Michael W. Smith |
