I watch the footsteps of those who pass by Through the hazy gray of remembrance I pause in reflection to clear my eyes Even though I’m devoid of emotion I fight back the urge to cry These feet traverse the same destination Of those who passed before Still its hard to suppress the consternation Echoes of those yet to come Haunt me now from no location There seems to be few reasons left to give For the answers to questions fail To tell me why we all must live, Nothing left to remind us Simply nothing more to give That old feeling of fear comes back to me With a grip of icy hands To close about my throat, then I see The muffled voices warning So I retract again and let it be Closing my mind to every earthly thing While looking down at these feet In a puddle I see a golden ring But there’s no desire left Because there’s a winter for every spring And there was in it a reflection fading fast I couldn’t quite make it out The lines of reality not made to last Until I finally realize From this world what has just passed |

OMG...Jerry, this one...man on man...this one got to me...amazing...im almost speechless...I know you couldnt have written THIS one in high school...seeing what its about...or what my mind/heart perceives its about... "Closing my mind to every earthly thing While looking down at these feet In a puddle I see a golden ring*** But there’s no desire left*** Because there’s a winter for every spring And there was in it a reflection fading fast*** I couldn’t quite make it out The lines of reality not made to last Until I finally realize*** From this world what has just passed*** oh yes...I get it...dont I(smile, then sadly sigh) JM Now for me some words come easy But I know that they don't mean that much Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch You never knew what I loved in you I don't know what you loved in me Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be... Jackson Browne *I miss you baby... I love you...always. |

Janet my friend. You know me so well. This was the 3rd poem i wrote in college (go LSU), after me and my girlfriend broke up. The first two were the Weary Humanity ones. |
