You Dont Know The Real Me By: Amy M. Kennedy You don't know the real me, for you haven't got a clue You don't know the uphill climb I've had, or what I've had to go through Never walking a day in my shoes...you don't know my pain Or the many tears I've cried, while standing in the rain You think you know me so well, but that is simply not the case I hide from you the real me, behind my smile, never let you into my special place Why do I hide, you may ask? I am scared to show my inner shelf How dare you laugh at me when I say that, you have no idea the pain I have put up on the shelf My heart has been shattered, more times than I care to recall So I built my fence, built it strong and tall, my wall Few know the real me, the one I hide so well Takes a special person who loves me unconditionally, to break through the spell I do not let too many people inside my heart, but once I do they have the key Then and only then do I reveal all that I am, the real person I am...the real me ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

Very emotional a heart felt piece "In the darkness you call me i cannot see I dont know where you you are or whether you know me I see you in the mirror and when i go to sleep but i cannot find you love of mine hideing beneath the bed" Pride of place in the human race goes to one without a trace, of subtlety style ego or grace for this position, I wish to say, i would be proud as i am greater than any other face in the crowd |

Oh Aimster -Another well done poem....I do know so well what you are saying, and at times it's so hard to understand why people, who have no clue where we've been, feel they can judge us. But isn't it wonderful when the sun does come out and we finally realize that we don't really care what they think, our value isn't dictated by them, but by a much Higher Power!! Thank you for sharing "You" with us. |

I let very few people in too, Amy. Can certainly relate to this piece. Hard to find that "unconditional" love anywhere these days. Scares most people off when they see it in you, too. Great poem. Michael |

You think you know me so well, but that is simply not the case I hide from you the real me, behind my smile, never let you into my special place. excellent amy...i really relate to this one...we put up fences and walls and put locks on our hearts...only true love has the key. I love this one for the "you" it expresses and for the inner strength it show...good work Amy-girl!! jm You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name And know my love and my desperation were one and the same... Baby it's alright... Take this pain and all this sadness It's alright Take this rain You're going to be free... Jackson Browne *I love you baby* |

Walls and barriers are our only defenses. The smiles are our facades. Well written, Aimster. The question remains, should we let anyone in? |
