A lonely tear ran down her cheek,
Like a mirror it shattered when it hit the floor,
The sound almost deafening,
In the silent world behind the closed door.

This lonely bedroom her haven,
She too scared to venture out,
Out there, there is pain,
Out there, people yell and shout.

She is safe in here,
Favourite momento's,
Now her only friend,
Favourite music making her heart beat staccato.

Photo albums to travel through,
Relive those happy times,
Candle light a prescence,
That doesn't hurt her eyes.

She tried so hard,
She never fit in,
She prefers this fabled lonliness,
Away from life's din.

Her soul is mending,
She WILL venture out soon enough,
And bloom once again,
Like a diamond from the rough.

Don't feel sorry for her,
Her self enforced sebatical,
Is so much better than the substitute,
Little white room all padded and sterile.

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

this is beautiful!! i love the first verses, they pull you right in to the poem...
somedays I just wanna stay in bed and listen to tunes too..

 She says baby,
It's 3am I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

I love you baby... always.*

I absolutely loved this poem!! I remember not long ago, when I too was afraid to venture out, but like you said in the poem, my soul mended, and I ventured out once again! I really enjoy reading your poems and can't wait to read the next one!

Nice to know that you have that special place.  I too have a few special places.  One of them is music.  I put on my headphones that are twenty five feet long and I walk around the house, sit on the back lanai, lay on the couch, dance, laugh, cry, or whatever suits my mood.  The music is my inspiration.  James

James you got it wrong, the girl/woman isn't me, not at all.  I'm into MUSIC, I sang in pubs before I was married.  When I need to escape I walk somewhere pretty and quiet with my walkman on and SING and SING until I feel better, if I can't go out, I lock up the house and SING my heart out for hours.  Like yourself music is my sanctuary and escape and the things that dreams are made of.

Thanks everyone for responding so enthusiastically to this one, we have all felt like this girl at one time I belive, glad you all like it   < !signature-->

Sometimes we make our own safe havens, not necessarily in our homes but in ourselves.  We shut ourselves off from others emotionally and we don't get "involved" for fear of being hurt and as a result, we've locked our own prison doors.

I'd like to know how all these new people who came to passions after me, have found time to rack up so  many posts!  I'm doing good to have a 120!  I just don't have time.  Just wondering....

Well Kelly I don't know about others, myself, I spend maybe two hours in the morning on here, and an hour in the afternoon.
But I do moderate so it's my job and such a great one at that!!!

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......
