You have to stop and smell the roses,
Take the opportunity when it arises,
To walk on by and miss that moment,
The soul it yearns and cries.

We passed by those rolling green hills,
I begged for you to stop,
You just kept driving,
And my heart and soul they dropped.

You are never too old,
To roll down those hills,
To smell a pretty flower,
This is the key to how the soul refills.

Stop and take the time,
For time, so quickly it flies,
We all have to recharge those batteries,
Or we face our soul's demise.

Listen and particpate in the dusk's stillness,
Hear the birds sing their end of day songs,
Watch the darkness blanket the land,
It's what your heart has needed all along.

Take the time to notice,
These gifts are free and ours for the taking,
Missing these elements of life force...
Can't you see the mistake your making?

If you don't want to that is fine,
It is your loss you see,
But please don't force me to miss them too,
For those moments are an integral part of me.

To me they are food for the soul,
The little things that DO mean so much,
I want to experience them when I can,
For I don't want to lose touch.

I enjoyed reading this a lot. The little things DO mean a lot. You really don't relize that until someone (like you) makes you think. Thanx for reminding me of that!!

If only we had all the time in the world. I've been away for a while, working on a sci-fi novel. I'm glad to see you are still here Isis.

I liked this because I, all too often it seems these days, pass those hills by too.

PS: There is an Isis in my book.

The most important things in life are free and you reminded us what those things are.
Time is fleeting and we hardly notice until one day we look around and life has passed by so quickly.
Your writing is very uplifting! I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks guys!  Ol' Isis likes to remind you of the important things in this ol' world.  For if we don't pay attention, and miss them, they are gone, never to return.

For me to reflect back on my life now, I see that for the majority of my short life I have avoided the small things. And the little things are what life is all about. For without the details, there would be no big picture. Thank you, Isis, for reminding us all to look at the details, but smile at the big picture.

Isis I was reading this poem the other day and I thought it was such a passionate cry for love and understanding.  I can only hope that your heart will seek and find.  When I was writing the poem "Beauty of Love" for Marge I remembered your statement about stopping to smell the roses and I just had to add that to the poem....Your writing is really descriptive and honest and you are speaking right from your heart and you are speaking for your heart.   Take care special angel.  James

Deeply moving, Isis.  You're so right - it's never to late to stop to appreciate the beauty of so many things we take for granted.
Wonderful work.
