I wish someone could tell us,
With the knowledge they have learned,
What our purpose here in this world is,
So we can know and not have to yearn.

It should be in the school ciriculam,
Sometime in the first year,
An expert can tell you your purpose,
What you are meant to do while your here.

To have that answer,
To know one's life's direction,
Would save years of wondering,
And we'd make the right selection.

If only someone could tell us,
Life's trials would be merely a journey,
We'd study and learn, know what paths to follow,
And find fulfillment, it'd be so easy.

But alas, that is not reality,
We must learn as we go along,
Shaping our lives and souls,
Righting our life's wrongs.

I don't have the answers either,
But I will share what I have learned,
All the knowledge and secrets are within you,
There you will find the peace for which you yearn.

Love each other,
Forgive and forget,
A wise man forgets his anger,
Before he lies down to sleep.

Exorcise your demons,
So only love and hope remain,
Embrace, love, life and beauty,
Try not to dwell on the pain.

Tell your friends you love them,
And you'll be there for them,
Likewise for your family,
They need you as you need them.

Hate is a poison,
That will rot your soul,
Don't let it get a hold on you,
Don't let it take control.

Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

Isis,
Sometimes I wish someone would share with me the secerts of what my purpose might be, but I know that it lays within.  I am the only one who can... "shape my life and soul"

Excellent as always.

This is a very nice poem, with a good rhymne and rhythm. The wishes expressed in the first stanzas are actually how things are done in the eastern cultures. Your role in life is laid out for you, not by you. I'm glad I was brought up in the west. Though, at times, it does seem like it would be easier to let someone else take control. Such is life.

Ahh my sister. If we knew these answers life would not be the journey that it is. If you want someone to tell you what you are meant to be, let me.   You are to be a mother, a friend, a soother of sorrows, a nuturer of souls. You are to be the guider of young spirits and the builder of self-esteem. You are to be a gentle loving spirit that all can enjoy, even those across the sea. You are to be a roll model to those who are hurting but can not see the hope and light of this world. You are to be my friend and soul sister, even though our contact has been limited as of late. You my friend have potential beyound your imagining, all you need to do is tap into it and you will soar.

The fun is in the journey, Isis. Don't treat it as drudgery, rather as an exciting opportunity to discover.

another poem full of wisdom from sweet Isis, this one flows so well, and asks good questions of ourselves...and I love Joy's reply...shes right, the answers lie with-in
beautiful as always Isis(like the author)
(and the little angel in the pic with her)

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Maz my sister, thanks for such beautiful words, I thought I knew my journey and purpose. Honest I did, but you enlarged it so lovingly for me.  I was speaking generally in this poem truly!! But thanks for the kind and loving words I really appreciate them.  I miss you too sis.
Oh Balladeer, you got me wrong too.  The only thing in my life that is drudgery is the laundry and meal preparing!!!   I was speaking generally. But you spoke wise words never the less    Got the tape yet?
Janet Marie thanks for your lovely words too, thanks for saying my Dylan is an angel, I think so too.

I believe life is a learning process that we need to go through...and it seems to me that you are learning quite well....as you show in stanzas six through ten.....
Wonderful, thought provoking piece..
Well done Isis.....I enjoyed the read much......

A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire!

Thankyou...for reminding... me to TRY not to dwell on the pain...

Oh, no, dear Isis! My "don't treat it as drudgery" was not aimed at you. It was a general statement to any reader of your poem. I'm sure your life is exciting   No, no tape yet

Wonderful as always Isis. . . but if we knew all the answers, then there wouldn't be the fun of discovery!!

But of course, we'd know how to get through the bad times too. . .

Lots of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in this poem.   Isis I have embraced hope as my best friend.  Also I try not to dwell on pain, and I mean the pain of a heartbreak.  You are a very good writer and your poems cover a wide variety of interesting subjects.  Take care,   James
