She lingers Under the willow branches Softly sighs, not quite a cry, And not with tears, Noticing nothing. Why is sadness upon you, So young with many years to live? I'm lost, said she, know not what to do What advice can you give? I have ended my advising days To find contentment in poetry I head for peaceful hermit ways In the western mountains beauty. She said "I have no where to go Abandoned by husband and family. I can only sit beneath this willow Reflecting on my tragedy" Zhan Zhing was moved by compassion, Wrote to a friend a short letter A friend of long devotion To make this girl’s life better. She smiled and bowed deep, Rushing off to his friend of years That in his house he would keep Removing her stigma and fears. The Mountains loomed in the west Green with the days of late spring Tomorrow he’d go today he’d rest Soon a new life would be for Zhan Zhing Gloom |
