In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

0 posted 2004-05-03 10:04 PM

During the night
someone else’s memories
turn into starlight.
Images from past lives
make me want to scream.
Half remembered faces
brush against my cheek.
Just at the end of the dream,
cries of passion
brush against my ears.
On the street,
the screams of death
fall into the ocean.
The trees have turned to dust.
Is the world still standing?
The river carries dreams away.
Wool socks and scarves
aren’t important anymore.
Just as I thought
I would love you forever
there is no love left.
Is this really the end?
Stare into the darkness of my dream
Taste my pain and you will become me,
here in the house of death
where everyone calls your name.
I lost my name somewhere,
in the woods, amongst the ashes
of the trees, finally turned to dust.
Now your question arrives at last,
Does love really exist?
And the last of the screaming stops.
The world is only a dream.
Blow out the candle on life,
Before closing your eyes.

Suetang, Thank you for the read.

garysgirl, Thanks for the welcome, have been registered here for some time, just no time to put fingers to keyboard.

nakdthoughts, just some old stuff going around in ever diminishing circles.

Sunshine, thank you for the comments.

Welcome to passions.
This seemed like a nightmare
in the very dark....
The last lines fit perfect
and leaves the reader bewildered.

to reading more!
