I always admire the sun's passion
for a new dawn,
for a new day.
I marvel at its ability
to cast away the terrors,
joys,
fears,
sundown's delight,
the tawdry haunting cravings of the night,
without holding back.

I don't think it's right that I am stuck here
with all these memories,
when my life has been so easily forgotten
by the lovers I have had.

Don't misunderstand me now
I don't keep score,
or scrap books,
and if sentiment is an art form
I was born to be a troglodyte;
it just isn't right
that I continue living
to carry all the details,
all the moments shared,
the brilliant cosmic streams of ecstasies,
the gleaming sheen of hatred's frozen shell
and all that fell between.

I have never wanted to be remembered
when I'm dead;
fame is exactly what it seems,
it is for the children
who still are stocking shelves
in empty heads believing there are ways
to cheat the endless famine of mortality.

I could always see;
the point in life
within its linear reality
is so so very brief,
but it doesn't end with grief
in the collapse of the organic bubble
that only serves as temporary warehouse
for the soul,
where each day is lived
and gone so briefly,
always followed by another dawn,
by another day,
each fits in between the ticking
of a great celestial clock.

I worry
about the shock those lovers from the past
will have when it comes;
for at the dying time,
the memories are reborn.

I understand

but maybe if your life is forgotten so easily, it was never really truly known in the first place?

totally blown away, here.

my god, this, this? I just started highlighting and couldn't stop--

I'm with the Serenity on this one, I'd copy and paste but I'd just repost the whole damn thing.

I'd like to hug you, too.

Wow!  The entire piece was a mind blower..but those were my favorite lines.

And as for me?  I haven't forgotten a single lover..not even the one that is not of this world any longer...
