In my heart still lay the memories of a life not long ago When everything seemed wonderful in way it seemed to go But something changed that good life, as only fate can do And weight on one soul parent came to be the role of new Still I feel her presence in my heart and in our home And though it’s been a while now since, I feel I’m not alone I hold her in my memories and with passion in my heart My dear wife now departed, from my side shall never part The children still all miss her; the mother they all need While here I try to sooth their hurt and stop the wounds that bleed But how does one accept it, although they know they must? Cos memories bring back moments that just wipe away the dust Who blames away the bad times till consumed by what they bring? It’s hard to pray to God at night and thank for everything Something drove a knife in deep and broke the blade which tore My life away, my future, with one that I adore Yet still I am a father who is doing best he can To be a mother and a dad and try to be a man Not many round to help me, they just don’t know what to say So friends are always busy and all tend to stay away I don’t know when I’ll start to heal, I don’t know if I will I see my wife within the kids and here beside me still And I don’t think I’ll ever really want her to depart For though I grieve her badly, she still lives within my heart I find it hard to talk about, to find a helping hand I sometimes try to share my thoughts but who could understand? I try to clear my conscience of nightmares that persist But find I find more memories of the past that I had missed It’s one gigantic nightmare from which I cannot wake And though I roll and fight it, of no difference does it make But every night I’m praying and giving all my love To my one dear departed, my dear angel up above For she’s the one that understands, the one with whom I cry She’s the strength that feeds my soul; to make that it won’t die She is all my focus, the smile within my heart She’s the one I still love so and cannot let depart |

Dear Rick Your friend is so fortunate to have you and your words came from deep inside your beautiful heart and I'm sure your friend values your friendship and these hearfelt words you have penned. Your kind and genuine heart shines through each and every word. "We are all angels with only one wing..... we can fly only by embracing each other" Take care........Sue I am in motion |

Dear Susan, again thank you for your reply, I have not given the poem yet, I hope somehow it helps him through. Dear Sue, I hope you are embrassed often and fly with the wings of angels, you are so kind with your words my friend, you are greatly appreciated and considered true of heart, thank you so much for being there. Dear Dixie, I am sure your father would understand, I think I do, but my thoughts and feelings are just fabrications with no foundation. Again to you all my friends, thank you, be well and all take care. Sincerely Rick |

Although you wrote this for a friend Rick ... you captured I think, the very essence of this type of loss. This was heart-breaking, but beautifully written. As you wrote, sometimes when others don't know what to say in a situation like this, they tend to stay away and that can often compound the loneliness. I do hope you will give this to your friend. Very well done. Best wishes, /Kit |

Dear Kit, great to see you here, it is funny but somehow I can put myself into anothers situation and feel the life that they might be living, often it is a sad world, but often brings much satisfaction, a few threads of information starts the adventure. Thank you so much for your reply, it was very much appreciated. Take care my friend and be well. Sincerely Rick |
