where two dark-winged arrows meet

in the red of earth
two serpent trunks rise
then twist in greet of eucalypt

lines tell their age

and just behind the spread of leaves
a messy afro
springing here and there

peeps the moon

she lights the gravel white
in serpo creep
where two dark-winged arrows meet
spangled-bound against the gum

and there I am

arms wrapped round knees to chest
my eyes against the sky
holding poesy in my hand

with you in focus

What are you my god? You touch me like you are my god
What are you my twin? You affect me like you are my twin.

Funny, the afro image made me smile, it reminds me of an Ent(treepeople for the uninitiated) in Lord of the Rings. There's a specific Ent who's willow like appearance makes him look dreadlocked, I call him Rasta Ent.Picture him lazing around smoking his own leaves..um..yeah nevermind. Its 4 am do you know where your sleep is?

Beautiful, Maree...this is simply magnificent. Reminds me of another poem I read once, about a banyan tree and the way it reaches down to the ground and anchors it to the sky...
