It's funny, that one of the reasons the USA exists, was because people were in search of a place where one could worship their religion, anytime, anyplace.
I hope, before I die, our government sees the errors of their ways...and rights this egregious wrong, and allows worship, of any religion, back into the mainstream of life.
And that all people will be tolerable of all others whose religion they do not share.
I saw a good thing today. While eating lunch at a small restaurant, a young family came in. When their meal was served...
they all joined hands, and gave a verbal [not silent] prayer.
Whether it begins with one person, or one family...or one community...changes can be made.
Make yours today.
And thank you, Mysteria, my friend, for giving me a chance to get on my soapbox. I'll step down now...and pray that someone else steps up.

Though strong of faith and belief in the power of prayer, I must say prayer in school is not something I understand as so many faiths exist and their beliefs differ, how then can we honor them all? But, as for your prayer to end the war, to share love, to mend hearts, to protect children -- Amen sister.

I have more American friends than Canadians actually and worry sick about ya'll down there most of the time. When I was young, Mom took in draft dodgers during your last big war, as well as two men that came home to get better, then hid so they didn't have to go back. I remember hearing them tell my parents stories, and it scared me to death. I wish it would just be over as I don't want to see another Viet Nam actually. Call me selfish but I can't see how loosing even one life solves anything.

At at time when this nation and its people are hated by so many... such beautiful and wise understanding is so appreciated. *S*
They've elevated the terrorist alert around here... so I bought 2 flags this morning. *S* And MY pledge will always contain the words... under God. *S*

Mysteria, I enjoyed reading your poem. I have mixed emotions about prayer in school. I believe a child or a school employee should be able to pray anytime, and I'm sure it does happen in schools, regardless whether they are led or not. Many times these are done in silent meditation. miscellanea

Because our freedom is so varied and won with the lives of countless men and women who protect us, my patriotism is especially prayerful this year. I am proud to be an American. With all the hoopla produced by Michael Moore's documentary, all the news coverage of American's mistreatment of prisoners, I am still a proud American. We have to take the bad with the good. And the latter FAR outweighs the former.
Thank you Mysteria!

Thank you for reading my tribute to my American friend's holiday. I feel "part American" as I am there so often and love the friends I have made down there. Again, enjoy the fireworks and let's all toast to a continued freedom.

He's certainly happy about the fact that there's still this celebration, since we seem to be the main hope for continuing each of the religions that are about Him.
What an excellent poem ~~ a perfect start for this day! ~~J

Very touching write. A child always speaks clearly from the heart. I'm ever thankful there is someone who can hear them above all the noise we make as adults, even when freedom is worth shouting about and praise is sung from the rooftops. Someone is still listening to the little ones.
Love, Reg
