There’s an ageless angel pouring water
into a simple Spanish bowl
She is a he, or he is a she, quite “elegently”
The water trickles
silver
mindless
pure
reminding me
how everything isn’t what it seems

the extraordinary lies
somewhere just outside
my peripheral vision

It’s no wonder
my stream of consciousness
is a continuum
of language rolling off rocks
sounding as drunken tongues
then all at once, things make sense
my extrasensory perception kicks in
and I decide that this yen yang thang just yanks my chain
and zen makes me sick
not in a bodily way, just the mindset of it all

How things crawl back in the recesses when people shout out
“Angels ain’t male or female, you idiot.”
And I think to myself
how anthropomorphic we are
How Gods might seem to see me with eyes
and hear me with ears
and wisely speak to me
through lips that move through the clouds

or maybe
I’m just a speck of literal wise cracks within the aspect of the supernatural
No matter what rattles around in my head
androgenous as it all seems
I’m strictly human
and as I see it, that angel at a right angle looks male
from the left, female
Perhaps it is the workings of something much grander than I
but the Spanish bowl
was made in Japan

Regina!  It is so good to see you!  I've missed your vision and your special way of saying things that are true.

Have I missed you!  Lost your email lady, how's the yard?  The last two lines sum it all up if you ask me.  Who knows if there are angels, you might have spoken to one today and not even known it?  Or maybe the Spanish bowl that says Made In China was imported from Japan?  What is real is all in the mind, and lady yours is darn real!  She's back - she's back - she's back - she's back (that was me doing a really kewl rap dance for ya!)

Thought-provoking and evocative poem.  It is simply incredibly well-penned.  It flows so smoothly, and forces me to hang on every word.  You are a gifted writer.  I will have to keep my eye out for your posts.  I am simply amazed.  This is really an incredible piece of writing.  It should be printed for God's sake.  I will be looking to more from you.

Warm regards,

Kevin

Your writing is as sharp and on target as ever was, Reg...

and I saw this Angel...I know I did, when I walked the streets of Merida...

this brought a lot forward, quickly, as I read it through the first time, but I'm librarying it, because I know I will get more and more from it down the road...

so good to have you home again.

What a lovely write. It is wonderful to read your angelic musings and ponderings!

Welcome home hugs,
EA
PS You look like an angel yourself ~ so it appears to me that angels may not be anthropogmorphic afterall!

I don't believe I've had the pleasure of reading you before! This was simply remarkable, and is one of the few types of poems I encounter that seem to stir my muse in such a way. Please, post more!

I look forward to seeing more in the future

Martie: Hey poetess! Same to ya. Have missed your words and connection. Thanks for you.

Mysteria: Have been making changes, or change is making me, not sure which, prob. both, but I wanted to stop in for some inspiration and you always ooze with it. Love ya and your little dance too. Have updated my e-mail for ya. Forgot about that. Sorry you can smack me now.

Duncan: Thanks so much for stopping in. It's great to see you here again too.

steavenr: I thank you for your reply and it's so nice to meet you here in the sky blue halls of Passions.

Earth Angel: So lovely to meet you. Your kind reply is taken to heart. Though I'm no angel, I'm sure they are among us. They help us connect to people who inspire us. Thank you hugs.

Nancy: Hey there! I know you are still working your magic words. Thanks for the welcome, hugs to you.

Salutations and fanfares to you, my Lady!  I thought you were lost at sea it's been so long!  A very welcome surprise to read and see you again -- I hope we synchronize again soon as life keeps us all busier than we would like...
