I’m waiting, and waiting, and waiting but what if the time never comes and the ghost or the spirit of time dries up the moisture of love? The plains will be dry and barren, the clouds a mere memory, and the trees with no leaves will become as a breeze and lift up the crust of the earth. When there’s no outer but only an inner and memory brings back the clouds will it come with the rain or only the pain and the intolerable heat of the day? When we peel back and look inside we sometimes recoil at the glare and suffer the pain of no rain today while begging return of the clouds. But the world may be new with the crust removed and we may have no need of a tree to shade us from the heat of the day burning down on a different outlook. It may and we may but who is to say if the ghost or the spirit of time is a kindly old man or a fiend and foe unless we can know how we feel when we’ve peeled away and survived the journey to the other side. And contrary to all well known beliefs the other side isn’t death but our choice to find within the moisture of love and not a mirage in a desert. But a mirage is merely a wish, a hope, a reflection of the soul, and the flag at the start of a race waved by the mysterious free! |

Really intriguing concept and very interesting poem in total, Honeybunch. Reminds me in some way of Sting's "A Thousand Years" (at least I think that's the name of the song. ......jo |

Well, you see, Jo, I've been led to believe that somewhere "out there" is someone pulling the strings and we merely dance to their will ... but ... there's always, and always, our own free will. I can only hope to be aware enough of how they want me to dance and that's why I wait and wait and wait until I know we are dancing together in tune. Dixie - thank you again for the read. |
