Guilty

A distant gaze finds me in contempt.
Nothing left but treachery.
Hope, but a fleeting memory.

Judged and struggling
for this last breath.
Vigilant scowl
pierces twilight clear.
Split the silent night.

The reaper harvests
This lamenting spirit.
I am but a man condemned.

Conscience executes
This mired soul.
Guilty of contempt.

Found in this distant gaze.
Imprisoned, always,
within the confines of a mirror.

I too have gazed upon that mirror.  As always, I do so enjoy your work and your way with words.

Me thinks you be your own worst critic, Kevin.  A little too hard on yourself?  Good write, though.   ......jo

Well, Dear Kevin, the only thing that you stand guilty of in my books, is writing wonderfully provocative poetry that I enjoy reading very, very much!

Big, warm hug for you to start your day!

Linda
