...written for a friend in high school who wanted to send her ex-boyfriend a note (he found a new girlfriend)I think we were studying cliches then - don't think I've ever stopped either! Cast Off The Chains I’ve said it so many times shown it in so many ways I’ve used God’s own skies everything in day and dark my body my heart my soul my words . . . and still I come up short I cannot give you what I don’t have, say what I don’t know be more than I am yet . . . that’s not enough Cast off the chains, turn me loose – set me free . . . remove all thought and sight and dream release me please release me free me . . . of you. w. james beard, jr. © june 1961 ...by the way, she was released. After receiving this he told her to get the Hades out of his life! Whooooop! |

I'm not positive, but I think we could have all used this poem back in highschool. "Release me" for first love 101. Heartbreak High...enjoyed this.. Sincerely, Reg |

Thanks for the read/comments all...and Reg, I'm pretty sure your comment applies to my high school class for sure - - - and me thinks, especially if you look over the things written in this forum, things haven't really changed over the years with relations between couples - even those married. So, I assume "first-love 101" is an on-going class never meant to be graduated from...?? But that's unfair I guess - I've yet to speak with anyone who wanted things to go "wrong" (not-counting certain justifiable incidents). Nice speaking with you... jwesley |

Lucky her. Lucky us that you've kept this, for it is as clever now, as it was then. Well done, Sir! |

James, I e thoughts behind your poem. If a person can't accept us for who we are, we don't need them in our lives. Hugs, Ethel |
