I Am Not Past It

I quietly cry at night
and I don’t know why
no one is here but me
no sheeted sounds stirring
but pillows recognize tears
dreary restless dreamless nights
so I rise from a bed that is
too cold and can not hold me
pulled like a magnet to pages
as empty and blank as me
where my heart bleeds ink
word
after
word
will slowly drip by until I
can write away this ache
a thousand words go flying
and I am still not past it
just how long will it take
to be back to who I was once
now every night slips too slowly
and is exactly a repeat of the last
I sit here watching the moon
and I have learned to hate it
as it sits next to the northern star
and I am just so lost and
I can not find home

What tear may cross your cheek
What wandering place will it seek
The corner of you lips drooping?

Will some lucky pillow
Catch it before dream’s shadow,
Will the morrow find you hoping?

It is not to be Past ...
but held "dammed" in each Tomorrow's wake ...

... a reminder to help each new step we take.

   Not to foreverlast ...
for such emotions shall one day flood ...

... cleansing us, just like any stick in the mud!

                        ride the waves!

But something tells me the new path
will have a different moon under a
new northern star...I'm so proud of
your recent accomplishments!

Maybe you never will be past it, but you sure have 'got it' in the meantime. Thanks for writing this gem.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

I am just a traveler looking for a home, finding I carry it around with me, and sometimes it's just too damn heavy.
