The glare was harsh, I blinked, and missed most everything, the all that must have been in an instant without me. A cloud moved, a bird maybe put the last twig in a nest or the energy of sun redirected happiness. To look and see, remember, eyes open to it all, and watch the sea ebb and flow, and the beauty of a child grown to adulthood but from a stare a blink and the all that must have been is as if it never was. The glare of love harsh and stark turns our eyes downward and the world lies at our feet in the shadow lands of fear doomed to procreate unsighted human beings unable to know or see … what really must have been! |

Helen I believe you see remarkably, even with your eyes closed. I do understand this feeling, though and your poem got me to thinking, how many times we blink within a minute and then add up the cost...we miss alot! |

Hi Martie - yes, but I've also been thinking how good it can be to just close our eyes, let the world grow up alone, and allow ourselves the privilege of feeling instead of only seeing. |
