Threads of Melancholy

Those loose threads
Tighten around her soul
In a grip of melancholy,
Weaving a web of indefinite.

I read her anger in her words,
As they work their unravel.
So sadly she fingers
Brightly colored threads
Once worn in a twirl of pride,
Announcing a love and a life
Surely that would last forever.

Now, so pensively she moves
Embracing their every movement.
Like plucked daisy petals of wish
They fall in helplessness
To a cold ground of uncertainty.

I can feel that anger yank,
Tearing away any loose thread.
While all too slowly
Lethargically they float to the ground
In wonder of their direction or purpose.

Those once vibrant colors
That wiped at tears of joy
Now dab choked flows
Of sighs and whys.

It's then, mostly then, my friend
I wish it was I for one
Who could embrace you
Instead of threads of melancholy.

"Start where you want to finish!"
Feel free to quote me, I may become famous.

Wonderfully written.

I could feel it from here.

Beautiful Sharon..
I'm sure the person in mind when this was written is more than pleased to call you friend...they are indeed blessed.

This is a lovely piece on deep sadness.  Well done.  KJ

There are so many of late with some sorrow or burden to bear, and truly my heart does go out to them.  Especially hurts when it is with a close friend.  Thanks for your understanding of this.

Sharon, I feel this deeply from your heart.  There are so many threads of melancholy these days, I agree, with no rational explanation.  Sometimes, I wonder if that is the way of the universe in bringing out the humanity in us.   ....jo

Your words are spun gold from the heart...
ties that bind.
A lovely offering of your compassionate spirit dear poetess.

What was that you told me about giving it away? And something about the answers are inside of you?

People come & go in our lives but the memories & poetry remain...
Of lessons learned, things held in respect, among them is engraved your name.

With places like Ron's livingroom, no one here at least is ever going to go through rough times in life alone are they?

JM - got the message loud and clear - is there a moth smilie?  Thank you dear friend.

Ahah, there is now!

Hey Sharon, I sometimes link things together, as your poem of threads, and the threads here at Passions, and how passion always has threads of melancholy now and again. Tapestry of life...delicately laced with colors of you.

Love,
Reg

Regina, you are so right about the connections we make in here, and stranger yet, they last so much longer, than "un-virtual" friends.
