It's Enough By Larry Chadwick For Ginger Michelle If I could touch you one more time, And express the love that’s in my heart, It would not satisfy my need, That we should never be apart. If I could look into your eyes, And share with you my tears, I would still feel incomplete, As I finish out my years. If I could hold your hand again, And stroll a lane with you, It would never be enough, I’d want to walk forever too. If I could hear you laugh once more, And chuckle at your jokes, It wouldn’t satisfy the need, I’d fight my ache and choke. I cannot keep what I have lost, Nor can they take what I have got. So I will settle for my memories, Because they surely mean a lot. June 21, 2004 If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Ah Larry... I know the feeling of wishing things could go on forever with the one who's gone. Memories are the best there is, and yet they're also what leaves you with that empty ache. This is a powerful, powerful write... and I wish that ache could disappear. Always, Alyssa Poems are made by fools like me, |

Alyssa, Before I dash off for home a quick thank you and reply. I linger on the memories but when I sit to write... Well I find words and feelings that otherwise would go unthought and unspoken. Not sure if that's good or bad. But I know it's satisfying. Hope I don't depress too many folks. But thank you so much for reading and understanding. Peace... If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Larry, each time we remember, we meet again with those we love.. because the heart never forgets. It's good to write it out... it's good to remember. ~Heart hugs to you m'friend, Nancy~ Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that. |

Larry, This is awesomely written. I've felt those very things--I am very glad you shared this. It is not depressing, but rather, a lovely expression of love. Thanks, Larry. Sadelite |

Larry, This was a very heartfelt, tender write. I was so engrossed I read it several times. You have painted clear pictures of emotion, of your lamenting spirit, of grief to the "enth" degree, and of yearning. That is tough to do and you do it without pause. That is what love does. That is what loss does. When you write from your heart, you transcend all boundaries of expected writing leaving all who read reeling in your feelings and awestruck. This is simply an amazing poem. I am distressed at the content of your poem but know that time, our friend in many regards, heals ALL things. We are here in solidarity with you. You shall not fall on our watch, my friend. Warm regards and wishes for a better tomorrow, Kevin |

You really made me think about this concept this morning Larry. A few moments more ... may only make one desire yet more. You've expressed this beautifully, with warm sentiments that touched my heart. A beautiful piece of writing here ... Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

Linda, Thanks. You know how shy I am. My introspection is about the "before" and "after" of my writing. Guess you can't reclaim naivete. Oh well, one could hope. Thanks Nancy Lee, It's gotten me through. I'd a been lost without it and you guys. Sadeliate, Thanks. I'm not typically insecure about my thoughts. But that "before" and "after" thing was making me second guess. I appreciate you perspective a lot. Dixie, Seems you have a bunch of breaking heart stuff going on. Didn't mean to pile on. Peace and thank you. Maree, Thank you dear friend. I enjoy that you read so much of my writing. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Dang Kevin, Seems you've been here for years! You are a pretty amazing man. You know I'm perking along pretty good. I lead a blessed and happy life. Wonderful wife, friends, job and soon a brand new house. But when I write...well, I think about my daughter and my dad and out it comes. I had tears flowing down my face as I wrote this piece. But it just felt like my breaking heart healed just a little more. So I write on. I am pleased that you read and amazed at your in-depth response. Thank you. Well dear Kit, My debt to you is hardly paid. It is a joy to know that I've met a small installment on what you have done for me. It truly is my joy and pleasure that in some small way I touch your life. Thanks so much. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

What a beautiful tribute. I could not imagine such loss, but I can imagine such longings. Peace to you, and may the sun shine on your path. Hugs -- Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

I don't find it depressing at all, Larry. You did an excellent job of expressing love, acceptance and giving a positive influence to a tragedy...excellent writing, good sir.. |

I have to say there is never enough time in a day I could wish to think about a friend I lost that was dear to me like your daughter was to you. It isn't depressing to write or think of our lost loved ones, in fact isn't it a celebration of their life? In wishing you could have held onto her one more second is not depressing, but a blessing for you both to remember and cherish. How many times I have said, "If I had, If only," etc., but it would not have changed the ending of the story at all. I love to turn the pages of that story over and over, even if the ending was not what I wished it to be the story was awesome That must surely be the feeling you have as well for your daughter. |
