Father's Day Anew
By Larry Chadwick
For Larry Jr.

Father’s days are more than they ever used to be,
As I reflect on what they always meant to me.
They were a blessing when I was small,
And each bring comfort in their own recall.

But today as I sit and reminisce,
I am reminded of what I dare not miss.
He is my son and he calls me dad,
We named him Junior and for that I’m glad.

So mostly I think my focus ought to be,
About my boy and what he means to me.
He is perfection, this man, my son,
And not just because of all he’s done.

He has his faults, I will not tell,
They’re mostly mine, I know them well.
But it is him in his totality,
That means so very much to me.

So on this Father’s day that’s new,
I find no time for being blue.
I celebrate the life I have,
My dear son, my life’s salve.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

What lovely sentiments.  He is lucky to have such a Father.

Toe,
Thanks. The penalty for wisdom is loss. Sorry about yours.

Susan,
Thanks. He is a blessing.

Ethel,
Cool thought! Thanks.

I find the energy of your spirit and determination to look forward quite commendable and utterly worthy of residing "in the blue"...but not for "being" blue.  You are a wonderful person, Larry...your son is one very fortunate young man.

Larry, this is beautiful and certainly a different touch.. to write a Father's Day tribute for your son.  Good job.
