Finding Something to Smile About There is a difference in the way trees react to wind. One is still, looking over the roof of the house into my open door and me within, its branches hold grace by holding back, with a kind of regal symmetry it keeps its leaves intact. The tree just behind it is moving all around and I can feel the music of its dance upon my own skin now. Like a jumpy kid in line to buy a toy, it can’t hide the excitement of air that moves in joy, and the sound of leaves like rushing streams is music I hold dear, yet without the stately charm of the other would the song be quite as clear? When I’m losing hold of step and place, like now, there are different ways that I find grace, it’s all around. |

*smile* There are times when your words bring me back when I have traveled far. I think I need to stand still for a while. Thank you. |

As with most of your poetry, there are layers within the layers of this poem, streams of meaning within the river of it. Some are there for sheer beauty, sunlit ripples on the surface of your words, some are eddy currents made for reflection, and below it all there is the deeper surge that can give direction to a wayward spirit. Thank you for all of them. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Oh I love this one. Since I write about trees alot. With so many thoughts running in my head I never thought of their moving as in a dance.I think my Magnolia is the graceful elderly one. The Maple she is a dirty little kid who is always making a mess. The Evergreen stands there saying to the other trees "Oh Please"!....rolling her branches towards the heavens. Now the tree in the back is always dropping her limbs cause she is so old and tired and just stands and watches the others at their play. Good one BonBon |

"When I’m losing hold of step and place, like now, there are different ways that I find grace, it’s all around." You most certainly do find grace to carry on dear Martie. ~Holding you close in thought and prayer~ Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that. |

Martie, you are the epitome of grace. I always love to look through your optimistic eyes, you are inspiring and this is awesome! I'm adding it to the lists of my favourites of yours. Many smiles here. I love trees. I think I was a tree in a past life, a weeping willow, or oak...or maybe I was just a weed dreaming of being a tree? Your words bring animation and grace, indeed. Love, Reg |

Martie, I truly enjoyed the depth of this. With such life around, there is much to smile about. I have a lot of feeling coming forward after reading this poem, but don't have the ability to share how this very special writing touches me. Thanking you, Sadelite |

Martie, You know what girl? There are few places and few people in my world that I can count on to always, always make my senses soar. Your poetry is one of the places I go with absolute confidence that it won't be a wasted trip. Another winner! |
