Between the Lines

0 posted 2004-06-08 10:02 AM

Tuesday Morning

I awake some mornings to the beautiful sunrises
that appear, not from my many windows,
but from the beauty of another's beholding.

He views life from the camera's eye,
allowing me the softness, the day may offer ahead.

I strike my own lines, weaving my way through chaos
hearing echoes of my own life when time comes for me,
left with only darkness to wade through, until the sun rises again.

My words are undressed, naked with little happiness to decorate.
Loneliness, the user of my body, and my mind confined to fantasy.

My friends are words, others' mostly, searching out those
that can mend my wounds, bandage the hurts that continually
bruise me, some intentionally.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to not have to speak silently like this
and have someone who understands and can heal you with a hug?
It is that easy...

Some days I don't know what it feels like to be touched...
so I touch her arm, rub the ache from her shoulder,
and sigh when I watch to see if her body moves,
to know she is still breathing.

She is in her own world battling the elements, the same as I.
Who would have known, that it would be the two of us,
struggling after all these years,  just trying to endure.

As always, I am between the lines...
on this Tuesday morning.

M

To give like this, can only come back to you in a loving way one day.

M,

this was one of your finest writes to
date...the way you move people is
amazing and i'm in agreement, when you
give as much as you do and so freely,
it will def come back to you!
take care,

This was beautifully written and expressed...very much enjoyed.

I don't wake on my own anymore, lately the birds have been so noisey, they wake me up????  Wish I knew what all the fuss was about...but then, perhaps they're praying and saying, Thank you Lord for another one?????

hugs heal slowly, but they do heal
and..sometimes I forget what it is like to be touched too...

To be healed with a hug.... you're right, sometimes it is that easy. And still so far out of reach.

I remember when my grandma was dying... I sat by her early one morning and held her hand. She was asleep, and on morphine which I had just given her. It was still the earlier stages though, so she could talk some. Well, she woke up for just a moment, never knowing I was there, and she whispered "God give me strength." Then she relaxed again and fell back to sleep. Her flesh wasn't warm anymore, never offered the kind of hugs it used to. But the words still hang onto me, and now I wear them everyday.

Sorry about the little outpour there. You reminded me of the story so I had to tell
Hang on...

I often look between the lines,
And there I’ve found many pleasant times,
To reflect upon in solitude making simple rhymes.
Your lines show strength
Within their length, and meaning,
Often more complex than originally seeming
Your goodness exudes
Transcending the deeper moods,
Strength braced between the lines.

Maureen, I am reaching through these invisible lines and hugging you tightly, very tighting and telling you that someday, there will an answer to your trials which will give you peace.... tears here, although not seen, falling in my heart.
