There were four today; there used to be seven; their mother walked regally, head up, tall and proud, a real traffic stopper, daring both old geezer and teen rebel, to cross her line, i cried for days over you, in the light of morning i awoke to your sudden disappearance, much like the dream of those midnite hours, when the dead calm can either haunt or befriend, you eluded my kiss, as the transition between sleep and dawn slid softly away, four walked the road this yellow morning, funny how i seemed to notice it, on the dawning of yet another disappointment, revelations of mother hens and little chicks, that tie into the insanity of my own dramas, one more roadkill, tossed aside, as if life is less precious to those bequeathed with wings, i cried for days over you, (of how i lost and found you on the same toss of time) coming up to breathe again, only to be slapped back down into sobriety, upon the feeling of another woman's cries. When one can empathize with animals, one's definitely ready to tackle the problems of humanity! They are our teachers. (I cry, too, over stuff like this, maybe not always on the outside, but on the inside.) Love your sensitivity!
