I don't suppose I'll ever know if my life was right or wrong; it has been so long that I have carried these memories that I would lose all balance, if I ever put them down. A doctor told me recently that a headache lasting forty years is more than just a headache... what could I say? "Yeah, I guess that's true; now can I have my god damned note... to make the headache go away at least for an hour maybe two... because I'm too little for the world to trust by myself today... to know how to take care of myself this way... and maybe get some sleep." There was a time, when just a few of us, really just a few of us, held the human world quite literally in our fingers waiting to see which way the winds might blow; now I'm too little don't you know to be trusted.... It's quiet on the beach here all alone at night; I don't mind telling you how right it makes me feel, walking free... watching night gulls reel above the phosphorescent waves just at the crest, reading evening menus in the foam. ...I don't mind admitting how far I am from home.... There's just no way to measure how long I've had to roam to figure out how much of this living has been real. Sometimes, on these quiet nights I'd like to lay down on the moonlight, on the shiny broken shells that once had sheltered life, tell the world to go to hell, let the tidal swell wash over me take me out to sea and send me on my way... but tomorrow is another day and I always liked a soft cliché, so I'll keep walking ‘til the dawn breaks and I've got nothing left to say.... ©2004 by icebox |

icebox I have not had to deal with a constant pain like that, but I have loved ones who do, and I feel for them, and you. I sure hope you feel better in the morning. |

"It's quiet on the beach here all alone at night; I don't mind telling you how right it makes me feel, walking free... watching night gulls reel above the phosphorescent waves just at the crest, reading evening menus in the foam." Had to catch just one of the beautiful stanzas here....just to reiterate its shimmering image. Do you hear my jaw dropping in awe? Hope your headache ceases. ...jo |

I recall once you sharing that you have a hard time with compliments... so rather than my usual mothy worship... Yes...me to. I am selfish, I would rather have you here. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

Morning sir.... please signify your being as a gift, and be not hurt by others, for it is their fear of your wide forehead which frightens them, you know things they don't and probably will never know or understand...you are quit significant and most assuridly a gift. As is your artisitic talent, which you gift us. hugs, hope your doing well today. I'm sending along some good ol Pennsylvania sun to warm your thoughts. |
