"Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death"
Famous words by some,
But is it only just for us?
Or for everyone?

If it can't be attained by "them"
Without the help of others,
Should we simply turn our heads
Or should the U.S. bother?

"Does Anyone Take Responsibility?"
Is it only ours to claim?
Or do you help your fellow man
Suffering in pain?

Democrats-Republicans
"It's your fault"-"No, it's your's"
One thing is for certain
Our system is absurd.

Just give me 20 Lorcets,
A case or two of beer,
I'll take on Al Qaeda
Never showing fear!

Raise my taxes-take away,
My guaranteed retirement
I doubt I'll be around then,
For the first installment.

Morals going by the wayside,
Who cares or even sees?
Blinded now in these sad times,
It's all hypocrisy.

Toe, may I ramble with you?

My dad, he couldn't serve his country -
4F was on his test;
but that didn't keep him from giving
the soul of his very best...

he kept the home fires burning,
he tried to gave his all
and a certain pride in his country
helped him stand steady and tall...

My uncles?  They were farmers,
growing wheat and corn and such ~
a couple of them served with pride!
They loved their country that much.

But titillation and debauchery
seem to fill our mores
and while certain things are good for the soul
there are some things we shouldn't say...

but all is clearly revealed, it seems,
why, just watch your own kids' shows!
So I come to Passions to find a dream,
and to see how poetry grows.

But everyone seems to want a say
to solve the problems of our times...
but no one wants to mantle the trust
as trust now seems a crime.

There are good guys out there,
whose politics can't be bought...
but their goodness isn't all that "great"
for they heed the lessons once taught.

I know a few good women and men
who could bear the mantle well...
but the only problem I can see is,
they won't sell their souls to....

You're still my favorite cynic. Probably because you're so well spoken!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

It is true, the honor of the world slips, what to do, what to do?  But do we miss the depth of character that still exists due to the media's penchant for the base and corrupt?  We do, we do, I know this for a fact.

Enjoyed this read.

Golly gee, I actually dreamt of you last night! ~ and voila! Here is a poem by you!

Now, now, Dear King of All Rags, it wasn't one of those kind of dreams! ~ At least not last night! lol

It's good to see you posting again, my Bammy friend! You've been conspicuous by your absence!

Enjoyed this shoot-from-your-hip write.

Loves 'n hugs,
EA

Your rambles are always worth reading, my friend. *S*

Now... I know you're broken-hearted that EA's dreams weren't THAT kind. *G* But try to hang in there... we need you. *S*

Heard loud and clear, TOE.  This is a, I think, a good reflection of the average American's ponderings these days, that is, if they are permitted the time to ponder!   ......jo
