The ocean lost her voice
this morning,

muffled in a blanket of fog,
there is barely a line of separation
between sea and sky,
not that ever there was one,

i sit catecorner
to the enclave of silvergulls,

"move over i tell them"

this is just as much the birthright
of the bottlehead blonde,
as it is yours,

we are both, afterall, pathless for now,

i close my eyes
and feel the touch of you,
but you are no more there
than the apparition the birds wait upon,

i will lament you,
with eyes open or shut
for weeks to come,

you are the beautiful onyx butterfly
that danced across my shoulder
in a passing moment,

dark with wings,

o how i've come
to revel in the glory
of the noctornal,

soon your hold on me
will soften, as the mute voice
of the fog covered ocean,

as i strenghten
and lay my soul
alongside the withered foam
that kicks up again
in the random winds
that take it out to
the sanctuary
of the deep dark sea.

What wonderful imagery within this little wrap of gold...
Brooklyn is a little corner tucked near the seashore's heart...

images of which I could see taste and smell...how expressively brilliant is this poem...way to many good lines in it to quote...outstanding!

hmmm..

that was splendid!  Such longing...and knowledge coupled together to make a beautiful song of a wonderful memory.

This is so beautiful, Michele. I especially
love this ending.

Fabulous!

What can be said that hasn't been?  This is beautiful.
