This is for the poem: Feelings of Blue Today by Susan

Obedient Oblivion

She drove a 1988
Esquire station wagon
with the driver's side window
stuck in the Up position
which is best because it kept
the elements safe from her life...
of taking kids to school
ten minutes before the bell,
laundry on Mondays,
keeping the beer cold
and the remote where it should be.
Except a window stuck
in the Up position
cannot keep out the numbness
of lonely nights
staring at the ceiling weeping
under heavy breathing…
alcohol laden
while she dreamed
of coming home
parking the wagon in the garage
leaving the engine running.

Robert,
I hope those were only dreams and that
someone helped her repair the window.  Sad
events depicted in this excellent poem.

Sadelite,

This came to me when I was in the drive thru at McDonald's and a woman in front of me was paying for her food. The window was stuck in the up position so she had to open the door to pay. She dropped her money on the lot and had to squeeze between the car and the building to pick it up. She looked like it was the last straw.

The rest of the poem is fiction from my mind.

Robert,

Thank you.  There are those days.  Yet my roots are deeply sunk into a rich soil of love which keeps me well anchored no matter how severe the storm.  Still, there are those days.

Thank you all for reading.

I guess I would still write even if you didn't. I did for 20 years.
