Endless Summers Trapped within her mind of endless summers. A pit of memories drowning in lost recollections of the past. Memories of racing with the wind, laughing, loving. Unable to communicate thoughts with words of meaning. How does she find the key to end this misery? The warmth of the sun warming her skin, but in her mind it’s as cold as a winter’s day. She hears the words of many- “How are you today dear”? “I wonder if she hears us?” “Hold my hand, squeeze if you understand.” “Oh! Why do you not wake up?” In her mind she is screaming- “I hear you, I see you, help me”. Is her fervent cry. As her room becomes quiet and darkness fills the silent room. A tear gently slides down her parched cheeks of sadness. As another, yet unheard cry, reels into the darkened tunnel of endless summers. |

I once thought deeply on this as I would visit my Grandmother in the nursing home, all those incredible lives now trapped in the cage of old age. Soooo sad. Susan |
