When is the Time?

There’s a cool breeze blowing in the afternoon
and it’s taking me past the sky
to a place sweetened by clover
picked from an old lullaby.

Hush, the baby’s all grown up now;
gone, the eggs with youth and perfume,
they’ve nested quiet then burst to wing
and now it’s spring again too soon.

The holding of hands in cold of winter
is now a dawn still waiting warm,
and sweaterless the lavender sky is drawn.
When is the time when the ache is gone?

There is a loss of something every day.
More than time with edges I am carved
by slip of rocks and broken tentacles
making me more inward now, than skin starved.

When is the time when the ache is gone?
I dredge the river that flows in me
looking for something within this circle
to upend, turn over, then finally set free.

Ah dear Martie...is the ache ever gone?
I don't think so..and,
I think it's there to show us we feel and are alive.
Beautiful ache to this write sweet lady.

I am going to have to echo what Enchantress said, because I know she's right and I know you know she's right.

But how you express it Martie, oh so tenderly.

When is the time when the ache is gone?" ---oooh, loved this.  And the whole last verse especially...well, the whole thing really! Your poetry is always a beautiful read and this is no acception.

There is a loss of something every day.

that line says it all, Martie. It seems, with age, the pain comes more frequently. Those we've lost a long time ago made to seem more recent by the frequency of losing new friends and family.

Peace to you, friend,

Corinne

how well you say this and with feeling that digs down deep into my soul and touches me so powerfully - seems there is loss and gain and you say how deeply the losses touch us - just loved it so much Martie - Paul

Martie ... the ache never seems to leave no matter how many seasons pass. Maybe it's God's way of reminding us of a loved one until we are united in his Glory.

Sending you peace dear lady.

For some hurts there is no ending, for some losses there is no regaining....and for some bindings there is no release.

For some poems and some poets, there is no response but to feel their beauty and live those spoken-unspoken moments through them.

Martie,
Most of the times I manage to escape what's secretly inside, but you always manage to help me become aware of myself and my feelings through your words.  You are a dear poetess and mystery friend.  I really appreciate your skill and your wonderful heart.

Each of us is everything we have ever been.  Being human it is helpful to narrow focus to human scale, but the best we can do with the past is to accept it.

This poem is excellent and played in choruses through my soul.

Thank you for sharing it.
