The Lovers Through the Ages

He and She — the Lovers whom Ages
Have not aged; to them granted the role
By the Hand that writes Life’s pages
And opens a portal — soul to soul;
Lips to lips; where passion rages —
Where it collects its rightful toll.

And in that nearing of the lips
The greatest paradox is seen —
A perfect stillness of the World —
Yet, all rushes by — that which has been;
That which is yet to be — all swirled
Into the whirlwind of Life’s eclipse.

So imperceptible the grace
Of the first kiss, so softly taken —
As a playful leaf in light embrace
Of the autumn wind, gently shaken —
As an early morning dew will trace
The petals of a rose awaken —

And yet — this tender, sweet caress
Will forge new life from rock and air,
And will to all the Worlds express
The Love that He and She will share —
For it is You and I — we possess
The Deed — each are the Lovers’ heir.

Odd how the world stops when your lips meet, yet, the kiss is gone in an instant, even if it lasts for moments long.
