Yesterday,
as I was seeking the grandest,
smoothest stones on a near-deserted beach,
I knelt upon my tired knees,
so close to the edge of my world,
thinking the best stones were forever just out of reach,
when I suddenly realized with newly opened eyes
that I had overlooked the power of the tiniest pebbles,
the ones that were always there for my safe passage.
I could not help but reflect in honest genuflect,
knowing I had too-often tread without thinking,
had spent too much time drinking in
as many huge gulps of air as I could
so I’d possess boundless energy and the power
to jump all hurdles and climb any towers,
maybe even soar like an eagle.
But no matter what I wish for,
my existence has always been more
like the tiniest pebble.

Today,
I am happy to be
a pebble for you.

really beautiful, your sense of mindfulness. I very much appreciated the casual feeling of your voice as you described your experience....as you slowed me down into mindfulness of the moment's details...Thank you ~P

we know all things come from small beginnings...
