I’ve started this eleven... Twelve Times now. And still I hesitate. Stumbling through patterns of speech And cliché ways to say That I forgive. But why would I exonerate Your leaving me alone? When I close my eyes... Sometimes I see beyond your lies And I can almost think Beyond this spite. And sometimes, On the better days... The missing almost goes away, And I almost forget That I’m alone. I’m trying to forgive you now. I know I will, In time, Somehow. But how do I forgive What isn’t here? He was a man of sorrows |
