Sandman Is Comin’ Time for bed the Sandman is comin’. Have we ever thought “How” the Sandman looks to a child of eight? As we mature, adults think of fairies, magic wands, a sprinkling of stardust over their sleepy head. We wonder why they say. “Leave a light on or leave the closet door open please.” As they run and hide under the blankets and cover their head. Sandman is comin’, as we walk away and say goodnight. Heavy breathing coming across the room. The direction, the deep dark closet, the one with the door standing open wide, the one YOU said please leave it open please. A slushy sound, like the sound of squeaky wet shoes. Wet marks creeping across the floor. The smell in the air is surrounding YOU with cold and mold. YOU peek out from under the blanket It’s near the bed. It looks like “The Creature From The Black Lagoon”. The color of black, dripping with slime and weeds. YOU hear a low growling sound. Then he laughs “Sandman Is Here.” Love Bon-Bon |

Bonnie, So true and vividly put! I was scared to death of the Sandman. It ranked up there with Grim Reaper! I love your thinking and poetic play. Sadie |
