This humble poetic offering is based on an essay I recently wrote, “One Closed Door,” dealing with the extensive budget cuts in school districts across our nation. We can make a difference with our voice. Please speak for our children. One Closed Door How many doors remain closed when one remains locked? How many roads not taken when one remains blocked? How do we tell our children that they can not pass Through a classroom door open to only one class? Though one knock may go unheard at school’s picket gate, And one voice may grow weary in endless debate, Should one join with another at one classroom door Our one voice united shall resound as one roar. So, let us speak for our young what they cannot say. Push past their politics on their street of one way. Let battle lines be drawn and the battle be fought At the door of this room where knowledge is sought. |

A very strong message here Patricia, heard you loud and clear...wonderfully expressed. Good to see you. Maree Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder. |
