He's still around the old Canadian who collected shot in left wing over some stubbled corn field and limped back to the lake behind my house where he met with other flocks as winter lay hard on skin of water and rippled moonlight with frost. His wing juts now at odd angle broken no doubt by 12 gauge number 4 from some gleeful man who called in the flight only to lose his prey to will yet he struts proud the shore and swims with sometimes mournful honk as if calling brothers or lovers from sky no longer littered with vees of incoming always I hope he survives if never to fly then to be wildly tame as I toss bits of corn to the shore hoping I am not luring him to his demise with growing carelessness on his part that leaves him in jaws of Coyote or bag of man tired as they get of such nuisance noise and refuse that might follow a well fed goose. But I too have been hungry and would not see him so so be wary old man and do not trust even me for though our feathers may bear colors in common we are not the same My wings healed and my kindness could mark the end |

and I am dancing with myself, with a post-it note on my head. (enchanting visual, eh?) I have been thinking lately that I've never seen an unhappy duck. Something about their beaks implies a smile. I tend to jump to conclusions too. But I'm working on enjoying the journey, with much thanks to you. thank you thank you Cap. I was itching for a fix. |

Maree Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder. |

This speaks to me Ron. There is a fine line where we can be too kind to nature. But I sense you have the situation in balance. Enjoyed this very much. believe in what your heart feels... |

What an induction! This was my first experience at 'Passions'. I was completely lost in the visuals and the unique perspective. I think I'm going to love it here. Rene` |

OHHH, another write of sheer delight. Ron, this is such a beautiful story, gut-wrenchingly true. The very act of kindness (from your POV) may bring doom to the winged creature...and yet? a meal for another. A second act of kindness. The irony of it...making me think it through all over again, aren't you? You are soooo good. |

Reminds me of a Jack London story about a man and his dog he had had since birth in the Alaskan wilderness. Best of friends they were but, as the prospector explained to someone - "He knows that if the food runs out, I'll eat him and I know the same of him. We have a wary respect of each other." Full bellies keep friendships alive |

You always manage to keep my interest right to the very end of your writes! When God speaks, I listen! When you write, I read! lol EA P.S. I am sending you some victuals to keep that tummy of yours full! (as was suggested to me by my fellow Canadian! lol) |

I figger the scrapper could probably take care of himself...But? (even though, I've killed and eaten a few of my own) I often wonder after the widow(er) |

cpat Always there is a choice, to nurture or exploit.. Kindness shown at times may put the receiver in jeopardy, but I know you must put out the corn...even if it helps the predators, coyote or man... enjoyed _________ice ><> |
