Abandoned Cottage The rays of the sun whispering through the pines and evergreen. The chorus of exotic birds is the only sound you hear. Hidden within the forest is an abandoned cottage. The windows broken, the steps rotted with time. Inside, the spiders weave their lace. The dust dancing, resembling sheer particles of stardust. The fireplace, no longer a place of warmth, is cold and damp. This little cottage was once filled with love, laughter and a child to be born. Once a lifetime ago- This cottage had a garden filled with blazing colors. Colors of deep fiery red, butterscotch yellows, snowy whites, silky caches of lavender and filled with every shade of green. The fragrances of honeysuckle, rose, gardenia and the smell of fresh baked bread with rosemary and thyme. The cottage white with lavender shutters, the steps painted with floral bouquets. Inside a man and a woman deeply in love. One day sickness came, death took the woman and the unborn child away. Each day the man would die inside and pray to be released. On a day warm with a gentle breeze. This lonely man walked silently into the quiet forest. Never would he return to this cottage of shattered dreams. Now only the spider and the dust dance within these cottage walls. The only fragrance in the air is the honeysuckle and the wild lavender rose. Love Bon-Bon |

WOW I wasn't expecting the final part of the poem at all. The huge contrast between the beginning and end was astounding. You write so beautifully and are able to take the reader exactly where you want. This poem was filled with love however you still depicted the sadness. This was excellent!! ^*-Kimberley-*^ "Theres no posession, just obsession and growing depression" |

amazingingly beautiful, yet so bittersweet you've painted an entire lifetime here... and while reading I couldn't help but think, lets purchase this cottage and fix it up again, filling it with color...love...bright happiness shining from within while the warm fire dances inside...after we're done, it'll jump right out at everyone who passes, like a Kincade painting. Thank you dear heart, for writing and sharing...Happy Friday! love ya sis, me |

Isn't it strange how something as inanimate as a cabin can just look like a dead structure to two eyes can be a picture of three lifetimes to another pair of eyes. Incredible write. ... There is no normal life Wyatt, just life ... so live! |
