Poetry is often quite like sculpture carved from virgin stone, cut from the quarries of the Earth; in dressing out an image, which clearly was already there, all that must be done is to remove the dross, the bits and pieces blocking visions the artist wants the world to share. In poetry it is role of the artist to strip away the flotsam and detritus, to reach deeply inside us, to remind willing readers of thoughts already there resting in the quarries of the soul. ©2004 by icebox |
