Boys becoming men in fatigues of green; Burdens of honor on shoulders so strong Warriors without cause, or thus it might seem Obedient soldiers that press battles long Pressing the mind, distressing the heart Into molds of the grief-adjusted kind, Reliving their dreams, replaying their part In theatres of war, their stage of the mind. Actors for purpose, if merely for valor Fulfilling their duty on mêlée-filled fields That deepen their fate, enabling their power To re-think their task, and the toll that it yields. Boys becoming men, with lessons they’ve learned, Living with scars they so richly have earned. |

Girls wear the green as well... and have served during war time... "sit on top of the world and tell me how you feel...'cause what you feel is what I feel for you.." |

My apologies, Susan...the title came from a forward observer's exact comments...never meant to slight the women who serve in any way whatsoever...the scars of war certainly know no gender, racial, ethnic or religous boundaries...or any other boundaries for that matter |

How many people died who never sort a battle, nor a war, yet too their hearts watched those they treasure die. If I said sex had nothing to do it, you wish the point of understand because everyone gives as demanded. My sadness is for those who rely on people who never ever thought they would need to fight and still cant understand an environment when they are taking away from their love ones. The nicest thing they can do, is stay well away so those who are really trained to fight do so. this is not taking away the courage of poeple fighting, it is making the point that if someone should be in a place at a given time, doing a given thing, you need a lot of training to do so. I joined up, failed the eye test for a seaman but still volunteer to learn how buildings explode, what fires really are, what happens in a nuclear explosion and to shoot sidearms and a rifle. I never needed to use it. I could go on, but there isn't any point. Dave |

Sorry for the grammar and I should wear my glasses. I wasn't suggesting people should have sex on demand but that war makes demands and the sex of the people concerned become academic. Dave |
