It starts within the frame A healthy dose of guilt and shame Everywhere you turn its there Into your fabric it will sear A life controlled and full of pain One must start to build their frame A frame of guardedness comes about Don’t say that it is filthy or bad Don’t do that it is so shameful Pretty soon you are more than blameful So now in this place you can say only this Over there you can say that Masks are prepared and worn to test Which one of me works the best Here in this place it is plain to see No one wants to see the real me Friends develop and we test some more Can we be us with them We soon see that only a few can handle that And even with them the whole is held back Then love ah…love a soul mate yes! Now we may be able to find Someone who will pass all the tests But alas after lots of loving and years My insides are still full of tears No one at all who will tolerate the me… The me I am and will always be Just masks and guards are all they want Especially that soul mate who saw a little Of the me I want to show Get back I am offended and embarrassed But all you show – just let me see and be around The you, the masks and guards allow me to see They don’t want to see or be with the real me |

Paul It's true, so often we wear masks to please whoever we are with or what group we belong to. Sad, if you feel the real you can't be let out, because I think you're great. Maybe it is better to be you....and then see who is still around ...I think you might be surprised, and would feel a heck of a lot better. Sorry to ramble on in your post, but you got me thinking. |
